Accompaniment

Take the first step on your discernment journey

toward a life of service and joy.

Not sure where to start?

Maybe you feel something stirring in your heart, but you’re not sure what it means. Maybe you have questions, doubts, or even fears about where God might be calling you.

That’s normal.

Every vocation journey begins in a different place. Some men feel a strong call right away. Others begin with questions, curiosity, or even uncertainty.

That is why accompaniment is so important for us as Claretians.

You do not have to figure everything out on your own. We are a community and we are here to walk with you—listening, praying, and helping you discern your path.

What is accompaniment?

Think of it like walking with an older brother in faith.

Someone who has already gone through the discernment process and who understands the questions, the doubts, and the excitement that can come with discovering your vocation.

Our role is not to pressure you or rush you into decisions. Our role is simply to walk alongside you, helping you listen more clearly to God’s voice through prayer, conversation, and reflection.

How does it work?

The first step is simple: reach out to us.

Once you contact us, we can schedule a phone call or online conversation so we can get to know each other.

From there, accompaniment may include:

  • Regular conversations or phone calls
  • Staying in touch through messages or email
  • Guidance for prayer and spiritual reflection
  • Book or resource recommendations
  • Encouragement to get involved in your parish or ministries

Discernment takes time, and we want to respect that.

If your discernment deepens and circumstances allow, we may also meet in person. If we are in your area—or if you are nearby—we would be happy to meet.

Throughout the year we also offer retreats and mission experiences which can be a taste of our community and your life as a missionary. Both offer powerful moments for prayer, reflection, and hands-on action.

Does accompaniment have a cost?

No. Accompaniment itself is completely free.

What do I need to begin accompaniment?

Typically, men discerning with us are:

  • Between 18 and 40 years old
  • Have completed or are working toward a bachelor’s degree
  • Able to communicate in English

These guidelines help us determine readiness for the next stages of formation.

What if I don’t meet these requirements?

Every vocation journey is unique.

If you feel that God might be calling you but you do not yet meet these requirements, please still reach out to us.

We can help guide you on possible next steps—whether that means finishing your education, improving your English, or finding ways to grow in your faith and service.

Just as St. Anthony Mary Claret, our founder, accompanied many people in discovering their mission, we are here to help you explore how God may be calling you to serve.

Let us walk by your side in this journey.
